Send to a FriendWelcome Teachers!
From a very early age, children are bombarded with conflicting messages about nutrition, health and body images. At one end of the scale, we have very young--and slender--girls literally starving themselves. While the other side of their "can we supersize that?" generation has itself become supersized. That problem, in fact, is so critical that the Surgeon General calls childhood obesity "an epidemic." So, in addition to these classroom programs, our goal is to help you keep informed by providing an ever-changing index of up-to-date nutrition news including a special section about kids and weight and diabetes.

There are 2 programs to choose from, both are standards-based. "Get In The Game For Good Health" is designed for grades 4 - 6. It is primarily part of a health curriculum and helps students to assess their own lifestyles, learn about healthy eating and the importance of activity. It even includes a web-based calorie/activity calculator.

"Food for Thought" is designed for grades 3 - 5 and is designed to help students learn more about nutrition while also reinforcing math and social study skills.

Our goal is to provide a fun and informative source of nutritional information, which helps children learn to weigh their food decisions and balance their choices. It's pretty obvious that French fries and sodas will continue to play a role, but hopefully leafy greens and monounsaturated fats will also get a share.
